New energy vehicles can reduce dependence on crude oil, reduce the pollution caused to the environment by automobile exhaust, and it is of great significance to develop the new energy automobile industry in China’s new economic growth and environmental management and protection. All along,China’s new energy vehicle industry mainly rely on policy-driven,in which governments at all levels each year to allocate a large number of government subsidies to the new energy vehicle industry to provide strong support, the government’s helping hand to promote the development of the new energy vehicle industry. Therefore,it is of profound practical significance to explore the effect of government subsidy on the development of the new energy vehicle industry. In this paper,BYD,a leading enterprise in the new energy vehicle industry,is the object of study, and through the government subsidies that BYD enjoys,it is found that most of the government subsidies received by BYD in recent years are directed into the research and development activities of enterprises.Using the DEA-based Malmquist index method,21 listed companies of new energy vehicles were selected as research samples, and data on research and development activities from 2015 to 2018 were collected as input and output indicators, and the research and development efficiency of BYD and new energy vehicle industry enterprises was measured and analyzed. The results show that BYD’s technological progress in recent years is obvious, and government subsidies have a substantial effect on BYD’s research and development activities.By analyzing the impact of injection of government subsidies on BYD’s performance,it is found that government subsidies promote BYD and its new energy vehicle enterprises to improve their research and development capabilities and enhance their core competitiveness, while improving performance and improving the financial situation of enterprises. Finally, from the perspective of enterprises and governments,it is proposed that enterprises should increase investment in research and development, improve the efficiency of research and development, and the government should set up a dynamic adjustment mechanism for government subsidies. |
