With the deepening of the reform of the contemporary higher education mode, cultivating the comprehensive ability of college students has become one of the important tasks of the current higher education. The construction of colleges and universities should pay more attention to creating the possibility for students' exchange and interaction. With the development of the university campus in different periods, the spatial pattern and form of the campus will change accordingly. However,it is still inevitable that the campus is out of line with the educational concept of the new era and the needs of the college students' behaviors and activities that keep pace with the times, resulting in the negative space that is inconvenient to use.At the same time, colleges and universities all over the country continue to expand in quantity and construction scale, and extensive development mode produces stylized spatial layout, unreasonable transportation system, boring and boring landscape design.existing campus outdoors space is an important place for teachers and students to learn and communicate, and also a carrier to embody campus culture and gather campus spirit. The lack of research and mining on user needs in its design will hardly induce teachers and students to recognize and use the space environment, resulting in the decline of campus vitality and the waste of limited space resources.Based on the common phenomenon that university existing campus outdoors space is difficult to meet the needs of students' behavior activities, this paper studies the relationship between space and behavior and space optimization strategies based on the theory of mutual penetration by summarizing the development stages of university existing campus outdoors space at home and abroad and combing the theories of environmental behavior and existing space optimization. In view of the typical university existing campus outdoors space and behavior activities in Dalian area, this paper carries out a real-world investigation, focusing on the relationship between environment and behavior, and analyzes the relationship between existing campus outdoors space and university students' behavior: that is,according to the classification of mobile and parking space,it analyzes the induction process of environment on students' cognitive behavior and communication behavior in different attribute existing campus outdoors space, and summarizes Then, according to the division of individual and cluster behavior fields,we discuss the feedback process of various typical behaviors to theenvironment in their corresponding spatial media, and summarize the different levels of outdoor behavior needs of college students.Combined with the above analysis, aiming at the four typical external spaces of square, walking path, base and landscape, the optimization principle is put forward from the perspective of improving the cognitive and communicability, and combined with the experience of classic cases at home and abroad, the targeted optimization design strategy is constructed. The research attempts to combine the theory of mutual penetration with the theory of existing campus outdoors space design, and provide a new way of thinking for the research of existing campus outdoors space optimization design. This paper focuses on the two-way interaction between induction and feedback in the relationship between space and behavior,in order to supplement the theory and method of existing campus outdoors space optimization design.
