Under the circumstance of more abundant automobile products in our country,how to meet the aesthetic needs of different consumers to gain bigger market has become a pressing issue for automobile manufacturer.As the main components of car,the styling design of wheel hub is an important part of the vehicle design.It needs to coincide with the requirements of engineering technology and meet the diverse aesthetic needs of consumers.Technical aesthetics is a practical aesthetics that integrates technology and aesthetics.In the styling design and manufacturing process of industrial products,under constraints such as technical parameters and processing technology,technical aesthetics can make the product in good practical function and beautiful styling.Firstly,in this paper,the numerical simulation method of aerodynamics is used as a technical method.To explore the influence of spoke features on vehicle aerodynamic drag coefficient(Cd),an improved MIRA model was studied in Fluent to investigate the relationship of vehicle Cd with different spoke offset distances and curvatures.Meanwhile,the reasons of drag variance in different cases were analyzed.The simulation results indicate that smaller spoke offset distance is beneficial to the Cd reduction and the increase of spoke curvatures will increase the vehicle Cd.Based on the results,a standard hub model is determined,which is served as the technical constraints to select the styling of wheel hubs and carry on the simulation analysis and the comparison in the future.Secondly,taking China's independent brand of electric vehicle Nezha U as the research target and combined with the vehicle styling and design style characteristics,to study its future modeling trend.On the base of design requirements and aesthetic principles for technical aesthetics,the design of electric vehicle wheel hub is carried out to achieve better design and decoration effect.According to the principles of technical aesthetics,classify and arrange the perceptual vocabularies of wheel hub styling design.Determine 8 wheel hub samples and 8 perceptual words that conform to the style and design trend of the target vehicle for the further study of perceptual images of the wheel hub styling.A 5-stage perception method is used to survey the target group's perceptual image on wheel hub styling design.5 vital perceptual vocabularies are gained by the calculation of principal component analysis(PCA)and the prioritization results of 8 wheel hub samples are obtained in the end.The 5 vital vocabularies and the prioritization results can clearly reflect the degree of strength of different wheel hub samples in a certain perceptual image.Finally,taking the standard hub model obtained by numerical calculation as the reference,select the two wheel hub samples with priority order of the first and second obtained by PCA.Then two samples are digitally modeled and analyzed by aerodynamic simulation.Through above analysis,obtain the wheel hub sample,which is the best case based on the specific wheel hub offset distance and curvature.The styling features of the sample can not only satisfy the aesthetics of the styling design,but also have good aerodynamic characteristics,so that the purpose of technical aesthetics research is realized.In conclusion,this paper conducts research on wheel hub styling design based on technical aesthetics,which can quantify consumers' qualitative perceptual cognition and provide a reliable theoretical evidence for the selection of hub modeling scheme on the basis of satisfying its aesthetic needs.Taking aerodynamics as a technical means,the corresponding constraint conditions are put forward for the wheel hub styling design.On the basis of satisfying the aesthetic requirements of wheel hub styling,the Cd is reduced as much as possible to make it have good aerodynamic performance.Thus,the balance between technology and aesthetics is achieved.
