Research On B&B Design Based On Place Context Theory

With the rapid development of the society,the living standards have achieved a qualitative leap.The hurry and stress of modern life make people unable to breathe.Therefore,traveling on holidays is the first choice for people to relieve their pressure.During their trip,people expect to experience the local customs,enjoy a slow-paced lifestyle,return to nature,and relax themselves.The emerge of the Bed & Breakfasts(hereinafter referred to as B&B)has met this expectation and has become a new place for people to relieve their stress and experience a green lifestyle during their trip.Not only can it solve the basic needs of accommodation,but also enables visitors to experience the local history,culture and a fresh lifestyle that is different from the usual.It is the best interpretation of feelings and the perfect attitude towards life.It is a condition that hotels don't have,and it is also the reason why the B&B are so attractive to people.The rapid development of the B&B industry will also lead to some complicated problems,such as the uneven quality of the B&B,the more and more heavy commercial atmosphere,the uniform design style,and the unclear regional cultural characteristics.Therefore,this paper applies the Place Unity Coherence Theory to the design of the B&B,so as to strengthen the coherence and unity between the design of the B&B and the local places,and to improve the recognition of their design.It is of great practical significance for the development of the current B&B design.This paper explores the origin and development of domestic and foreign B&B by conducting on-site investigations,looking up the related documents,understanding and studying some excellent domestic and overseas Bed & Breakfasts design cases.Then combined with our unique national and regional cultures,three interactive ways are summarized,namely,the continuation of the "time" in the B&B design,the continuation of the "space" and the practical meaning of the Place Unity Coherence Theory on the B&B design,and the 3 B&B design strategy,including "site,place,and the rebirth of the scene”,“man + nature + the return of man and nature",and “the combination of space and time" are put forward,so as to integrate the Place Unity Coherence Theory with the B&B design,propose a reasonably suitable design method for the B&B,and provide a theoretical basis for solving the currently occurring problems in the B&B industry.This paper can be divided into four parts and six chapters.The first part is the chapter one Introduction;The second part is from chapter two to chapter 3,which narrates the exploration of the Place Unity Coherence Theory and the exploration of the B&B concept;The third part is from chapter 4 and chapter 5,which sums up the interactive mode between place unity coherence and the B&B design and at the same time proposes the design strategic application of the Place Unity Coherence Theory to the B&B space.The fourth part is chapter 6,namely,the conclusion and outlook of this paper.
