It is of great practical significance to activate, transform and reuse buildings in today's architectural era.In the rapid urbanization construction of Dongguan area, there are many new public buildings, such as hall buildings,in many villages after the founding of the People's Republic of China. With the development of villages, most of these buildings have been unable to meet the villagers' current production and living requirements, and the phenomenon of abandonment is widespread.Although the historic value of these buildings is far less important than "cultural relics buildings",the quality of the buildings is well preserved and often occupies a central position in the village, bearing the historical memory of the villagers, which has a certain historical value. If they are demolished or abandoned in urban construction,it will cause waste of resources and loss of local culture, which is a pity. With the promotion of the policy of building a resource-saving society,Dongguan Municipal Government has launched the construction activities of famous villages, aiming to make these buildings meet the current development needs and promote local culture through activation and transformation. In this context, the author has the privilege to participate in the activation and transformation design project of Shigucun Shigu Hall in Dongguan. How to combine the development needs of Shigu Village, and on the basis of respecting the historical value of Shigu Hall,to activate and transform it,so that it can be put into use again is the core content of this paper.Firstly, this paper carries out basic research on the design of activation and transformation of Shigu Hall.Based on the on-site investigation, this paper makes a detailed interpretation of the geographical location, historical evolution and architectural status of the Shigu Hall, and combines the current development needs of the people for the Shigu Hall, clarifies the new functional orientation of the hall in the activation and transformation, and makes architectural evaluation and analysis of the original hall,so as to clarify the quality and historical value of the original hall's architectural structure. Then, based on the above basic research content, this paper carries out the research on the activation and transformation design strategy of Shigu Hall.Aiming at the design difficulties summarized from the above research, this paper chooses and analyses the design cases of activation renovation, summarizes the design strategies of activation renovation, and provides a reference for the design of activation renovation of Shigu Hall. Finally, based on the basic research content, this paper formulates a series of specific activation transformation design measures with the reference of activation transformation design strategy. Finally, the paper summarizes the whole research process of activation and transformation design, reflects on its shortcomings and puts forward solutions, and puts forward suggestions for the later operation and development of Shigu Hall. The whole research process of this paper is along the way of raising, analyzing and solving problems.Following this train of thought, the author puts forward some strategies and measures for activation and reconstruction of Shigu Hall. The activation design of Shigu Hall is a practice of the activation design of the hall building in Dongguan District. It is of great significance to promote the construction of local famous villages. It has certain reference value for the activation renovation of the Auditorium Building in Dongguan area, and provides a possibility for the similar Auditorium Building activation renovation in other areas.
