Xi'an And Milan

As the two endpoints of the Silk Road,China and Italy both have a long history and rich culture.Xi 'an and Milan are both famous historical and cultural cities in their respective countries and have many similarities.In recent years,the continuously increasing intensity of urban development and construction has impacted the conservation and renovation of historical and cultural cities in various countries.As an important part of the historical and cultural city protection system,urban historic districts of are more difficult to be protected because of its characteristics(richness of cultural connotation,the diversity of market life,the technology of space shaping and the complexity of integrated management and so on).Therefore,how to correctly handle the relationship between the conservation and renovation of urban historic districts to maintain the historic and cultural characteristics and adapt to the continuous development of the city at the same time,has become an important research direction of urban planning.First,this thesis interprets the related concepts of the conservation and renovation of urban historic districts then analyzes from two aspects: factor composition and application of technology.By reviewing the theoretical development and practice of in the field of conservation and renovation of urban historic districts at home and abroad,it lays a foundation for the improvement strategy adapted to the conservation and renovation of historic districts in China after a comparative research.This thesis selects the typical urban historic districts with distinctive features and comparablities in Xi'an and Milan as the research objects.The content framework for the field investigation and research required for this thesis is the result of practical and academic investigation and research systems combined with research needs.From material space environment and social and humanistic environment,field research was carried out and rich first-hand data were obtained.Through comparative analysis of the four parts of context,policies and measures of conservation,renovation technologies and approaches,and operational management,some practices that are less compatible with China's reality are removed,and the experience in the process of conservation and renovation of urban historic districts in Milan has be taken for Xi'an as reference.Finally,based on the existing problems in the process of conservation and renovation of Beiyuanmen historic district in Xi'an,the paper proposes improvement strategies from three aspects: policies and measures of conservation,renovation technologies and approaches,and operational management,which provides reference for Xi'an.
