Place Construction Research On Boundaries Of Historical Urban Areas

In the process of continuous development and reconstruction of modern cities,dealing with the historical urban boundary from different periods has often become a complicated problem.Facing the loss of the place of the historical urban boundary,the construction of place provides a series of strategies and methods from the historical relics to the urban space,and then to the relevant people,so that the historical urban boundaries maintain their place spirit and revitalize.This thesis selects the Tongjimen Relic and its neighboring area,which have multiple heritage values and urge to be protected and utilized,as the main research subject.Through the field research and the participation of specific project,first-hand information is obtained.The study begins with the combing of the concept of the historical urban boundary,extending its meaning from the original artificially constructed relics to a special place composed of multiple levels of historical boundaries,urban space and related people,and follows the clues in GENIUS LOCI to form the perspective of direction and identity,interpreting the historical urban boundary as six elements: historical evolution,spatial structure,human cognition and current relics,interface form,and perceived experience.Then the study combines the six elements into the historical relics,urban space and related people,and puts forward the general site construction strategy and suggestions about the existing boundary rendering,urban space bridging and value enhancement and utilization.Furthermore,in combination with the Tongjimen Relic's protection and demonstration project and the construction of the Tongjimen area under the ideal state,a scenery of place construction with locality is displayed under the guidance of the general strategies.Finally,the study reflects about the historical relics,urban space and public perspectives to explore more possibilities in the future.This thesis systematically studies the boundaries of historic urban areas,discusses the interpretation and the method of its place construction,and takes the specific design project as the reference,wishing to work as the reference for the construction and renewal of sites with similar characteristics in the future.The whole article includes approximately 52,000 Chinese characters and over 100 groups of charts.
