Research On The Systematic Design Of Glass Curtain Wall

The emergence of glass curtain walls is the product of modernist architecture and modern industrial technology,which brings a rich variety of forms of contemporary architecture.Combined with the current curtain wall design patterns and the architect's career orientation,this thesis explores the systematic design process of glass curtain wall under the effective control of the architect,based on the real world applications around the world.This thesis proposes detailed strategies for further design in order to enhance the visual expressiveness of such building envelopes.This thesis is divided into four chapters: Chapter 1 is introduction,which summarizes the research background,research motivation,and state-of-the-art research progresses.It also clarifies the scope of research and related definitions.Chapter 2 mainly discusses the curtain wall functions and the curtain wall design patterns led by architect and clarifies the definitions and elements of the systematic design of curtain walls.The difficulties and the key evaluation points of systematic design of the curtain wall are elaborated in current design environment.Chapter 3 attempts to summarize the specific strategies in the systematic design of glass curtain wall from the perspective of architects,by inducing and analyzing completed cases,in order to provide reference for enriching their visual expression in architecture.Chapter 4 introduces the glass curtain wall design practice in the project of Comprehensive Cultural Center in Lukou Airport New Town in order to summarize experience and shortcomings of its systematic design.
