The stay cable is one of the main force-receiving members of the cable-stayed bridge.It has the characteristics of small rigidity,small mass and low damping,which make it easy to generate large vibration under external excitation,and greatly reduce the safety and durability of the stay cable bridge.The damper can effectively reduce and suppress the cable vibration caused by external excitation.However,the conventional tuned mass damper has a shortage of a narrow band.In this paper,a new type of damper---cantilever type single-side pounding tuned mass damper(SS-PTMD)is proposed,and its damping performance for single-degree-of-freedom structure and cable-stayed vibration are simulated and experimentally verified.This paper was supported by the National Key Basic Research Program of China(‘973 Project')(grant number 2015CB057702),the National Natural Foundation of China(grant numbers 51378203).The main research contents of this paper include:(1)The control strategy,research background and general situation of cable vibration at home and abroad are introduced.The research situation of impact damper and pounding tuned mass damper at home and abroad is discussed,and the research content and significance of this paper are clarified.(2)The characteristics of several classical collision force models and the High Damper Rubber high energy-consuming materials are discussed.The collision tests of different masses and different release distances in cantilever SS-PTMD are carried out,and the parameters in the model are identified.(3)The motion equations of single-degree-of-freedom structure-SS-PTMD system is established,the vibration reduction performance of SS-PTMD under free vibration is simulated and tested by using two different mass ratios and different detuning ratios of SS-PTMD respectively.(4)The Galerkin method is used to establish the equations of motion for the coupled system of stay cable and SS-PTMD,and the appropriate mode function and modal order are selected.SS-PTMD adopts two different mass ratios in the tuning and detuning state,simulation of the 3rd-order free-vibration single-mode vibration reduction effect and the SS-PTMD's different frequencies and installation positions on the 3rd-order free-vibration multi-modal vibration reduction performance of the cable.(5)The field vibration reduction test of cable A10 of Dongting Lake Bridge is carried out,the vibration reduction effect of SS-PTMD with two different mass ratios on the first three order free vibration of the stay cables is analyzed.
