A Study On The Design Method Induced By Construction

The thesis uses articulation as a clue to study the design inspired by construction,which is based on the inheritance and transcendence of relevant tectonic theory.It recognizes the values of tectonic,but it is not limited to this.Rather,by integrating construction with “waste not” and “space composition,” focusing the discussion on real construction and space.Articulation is both an expressive construction and a clear expression of intention in the thesis.It can not only properly explain the " waste not " and "space composition",but establish the integrating between each other,which becomes the clue of this study.The thesis explains the " design inspired by construction " from three aspects,such as "articulation forming concept"," articulation as method" and " articulation into application".Firstly,from the four aspects of economy,time,space and nature,the thesis shows how the articulation reflects the meaning of construction through “waste not”.Through the different articulation phenomenon,it is clear how the construction integrate with the“space composition”.As a result the articulation forms a unique concept of “design inspired by construction”.Secondly,it proposes three kinds of articulation that are integrated with “waste not” and “space composition”,which are separating,layering and penetrating.These articulation come from the discussion about the specific construction and can be upgraded to space-related design methods.These design methods correspond to a meaningful construction method.Finally,to verify the effectiveness of the study,the thesis brings the articulation method to applications.At the same time,the research on methods is developed through feedback from practical applications.There are about 57,000 Chinese words with 198 illustrations.
