As a kind of hybrid structure,the string structure has been widely used in steel structures and timber structure roofs,but relatively speaking,the application in timber structure roofs has more advantages.First,it is embodied in the structure.The string structure gives the timber structure a greater structural effect,which can make full use of the compressive properties of the wood and the tensile properties of the steel,thereby saving wood and reducing the deflection.Second,it is reflected in the form performance.The combination and contrast of steel and wood materials can enhance the expressiveness of the building space to a certain extent.At present,the obvious advantages of green performance and breakthroughs in related technologies have greatly promoted the development of modern timber buildings,and the string structure has also been widely used in timber structure roofs.Generally speaking,the roof design combines important structural technologies,which affect the expression of the overall space effect.Therefore,based on the basic theory of the string structure,this paper proposes the technical design strategies and morphological performance strategies of the string structure roof from the perspective of architecture.The research finds examples of timber string structures and selects typical cases for field research from the authoritative timber structure websites at home and abroad,works that have won international awards,and magazine journals.Based on the clarification of related concepts and basic theories,this paper proposes two parts: the technical design strategies and the morphological performance strategies of timber string structure roofs.The technical design strategies of the structure are carried out in four aspects: structural scheme selection,structural component selection,string node design,and structural construction considerations.It is found that the selection of structural schemes should consider factors such as building planar shape,structural span,external control load,etc.The number of struts should not be too much,the lower string tension members can achieve rigid-flexible replacement according to the actual project,and increasing the diagonal brace can ensure the stability outside the plane.The design of the string nodes should follow the force characteristics,master the construction technology and innovate the process technology.The structural construction should flexibly adjust the structural state and apply the construction method.The complexity of structural technology has led to increased design difficulties,but it has also created good conditions for innovative design of structural forms.The morphological performance strategies of the structure are carried out in four aspects: performance structure modeling,node personality,material compounding,structural light and shadow.The study found that structural modeling is performed through the layered processing structure,the overall layout structure,and the innovative component replacement method.The node personality is expressed through repeated,exaggerated and mutated methods.The material composite is expressed through the use of native wood,changing the color of the steel cables,and increasing the film covering.The structural light and shadow are expressed by introducing lateral light and designing the light path of the roof.The innovation of this article lies in two aspects.On the one hand,it discusses structural technical issues from a new perspective of the coordination between architecture and structure,and proposes design rules and strategies that give direct guidance to the architects.On the other hand,it fills the research gap of timber string structure roof from the architectural perspective.Almost every well-acclaimed modern timber structure roof practice has morphological uniqueness.The strategies of this article are to provide architects with ideas for morphological design.
