Research On Integrated Preservation Of Historic Campus Landscape Character

Campus is the place where the university carries out higher education.The campus built under different historic backgrounds has witnessed the development of China's universities,which can present the campus planning,construction concept and display the unique cultural connotation.The higher education system has been developing since it was introduced from the west to China in the late Qing dynasty.In this process,a number of historic campuses with their long history,multiple historic relics and rich cultural deposits have been formed,which can well reflect the traditional pattern and landscape character of the campus.In order to adapt to the high-speed and efficient development of universities after the Reform and Opening-up,various universities have carried out unprecedented campus construction in both speed and scale.When the historic campus was actively or passively involved in the construction boom of universities,the campus landscape character with important cultural heritage value was damaged to different degrees.This paper takes the historic campus landscape character of the university as the research object,and studies the methods and strategies of integrated preservation from the perspective of layering.This paper first analyzes the composition system of historic campus landscape character and summarizes the relevant research results of cultural heritage preservation and historic campus preservation at home and abroad,so as to define the research scope and provide theoretical support for this paper.Then,by reviewing the development process of the historic campus,the formation and evolution process of the spatial pattern,architectural style and landscape environment of the historic campus are sorted out,and the value connotation of the overall landscape character of the historic campus is summarized.On this basis,three current layering forms of landscape elements are summed up as style maintenance,style extension and style disappearance.The historic campus landscape features combined with the elements of different layering forms can be further summed up as Remains scattered type,single-style dominant type and multi-style hybrid type.Finally,the paper puts forward the integrated preservation framework of the historical campus landscape,including preservation principles,cognitive positioning,preservation strategies and post preservation management.Taking the landscape of Wushan campus of South China University of Technology as an example,the paper uses this preservation framework to put forward the corresponding preservation methods and strategies.It is hoped that this paper will provide reference for the preservation of the integrated landscape character of the campus,which has been increasingly valued.
