Since reform and opening-up,China’s electric power construction is developing rapidly with the expansion speed. The demand for electricity is also increasing, which is the whole society. But now and then the power grid system has paralyzed, which causes the loss to the country and the society.According to the investigation, except the factor that the environment is getting worse and worse,it is mainly due to the insufficient bearing capacity of some old transmission towers, resulting in structural instability and damage. To solve this problem, the most direct way is to demolish old transmission towers and rebuild new towers with higher carrying capacity. However, rebuilding the new tower not only spend a lot of funds and time, but also transmission towers always built in remote areas, which is not conducive to live construction of using electricity. Therefore,it is a great engineering value and practical significance that reinforce the old transmission tower and extend its service life. This paper is based on the research project of “Research on reinforcement technology of transmission tower in service ”of Guangdong Power Transmission and Transformation Company of China Southern Power Grid. And selecting ZGU1 tower, which is the representative tower model in those old towers,as the study object, the mechanics property analysis and a series of reinforcement researches were carried out.The main research contents of this paper are divided into the following parts:(1)The finite element analysis software ANSYS was used to study the modeling method of the finite element model of the transmission tower, and the three-dimensional solid model of ZGU1 tower was established.(2)ANSYS was used for modal analysis of ZGU1 tower to verify the overall stability of the transmission tower, and nonlinear stability analysis of ZGU1 tower was carried out.Through the analysis results, the ultimate wind speed and weak parts of the tower under four working conditions could be obtained. The weaknesses of ZGU1 tower studied in this paper are mainly concentrated in the two lower sections of the transmission tower.(3)The finite element analysis is carried out for the reinforcement method of y-type nonweldable Angle steel of main material proposed by guangdong power transmission and transformation engineering co.,LTD.By comparing the finite element analysis results of multigroup members, the stress phenomenon and its causes are analyzed, and it is concluded that the reinforcement method can significantly improve the reinforcement effect of members.(4)In order to study the wind resistance of transmission tower structure after reinforcement, based on the critical stress at the edge of the yield criterion calculation formula to calculate the equivalent yield stress of Y type reinforcing components, after utilizing the equivalent yield stress in the reinforcement of the whole tower in the nonlinear analysis of transmission tower structure, compared with the original transmission tower structure analysis results,it is concluded that the wind effect significantly improve the capacity.
