Stepper motor is a kind of execute device in digital system which could convert pules signal into angular or linear displacement,it has been widely applied in all works of life for the features of simple control,high positioning accuracy,strong dynamic torque and so on.However,when applied into automotive instrument,the needles that controled by stepper motors will shake or out steps in the complicating working states.the key to solve these problems is the control system of stepper motor and it is of great practical significance for the research of the step motor control system.In this paper,the structure and the working principle of stepper motor were introduced and analyzed,and the corresponding mathematical model was built,and the process of how to control the stepper motor was given a brief introduction after the subdivision drive technology was introduced.The improved S-shape curve has been designed after the acceleration and deceleration curve model was built and analyzed in this paper.And finally,the way to control stepper motor with improved S-shape curve was achieved by programming on SOFTUNE WORKBENCH.In order to check the control performance of the improved S-shape curve,the test on real automobile instryment was made.The result was basically same as expected after observing the moving states of needles under the playback of vehicle data.The experimental result shows that the improved S-shape control curve designed in this article could make the step motor moving accurately and the shaking phenomenon of needle would be reduced or even eliminated at the same time.
