External corner is a three-dimensional assembly formed by the transition and connection of materials. It is constrained by many factors such as materials, processes, structures, and aesthetics, and it often causes problems. The problems of external corner is extensive, and the attitude of architects toward the problems greatly affect the quality of the built architecture. Therefore,it is necessary to pay attention to the details of the external corner.Taking the constraints of the details as clues to explore the problems and general the rules helps to cognitive the fundamental contradiction behind the problems quickly and accurately. And through the classification and analysis of material connection methods it is possible to systematically and comprehensively general the basic means of solving problems. The interpretation of the problem and systematic solution is the key to grasping the detailsResponsive passive responses to problems can be creative breakthroughs with intentional arrangements and become a bright spot.At the end of the thesis, through the analysis of specific cases,we explore how the architect can achieve the breakthrough of external corner under limited conditions so that it exceeds the definition that people think should be considered reasonable and become an autonomous detail. This article aims to guide the designers to focus on the important details that are widely existed and often overlooked through the discussion of the architecture’s positive corners. When architects observe, understand, and perceive architecture from the perspective of microscopic architecture, they will receive new thinking.
