Constructive Expression With Comprehensive Crafting

The thesis discusses the connotation of the crafting of architecture material in construction practice under the technological backgrounds in the modern society.The thesis takes three different technological backgrounds as clues:pre-industrial era,industrial era,and post-industrial era.Based on the historical context of the crafting of architecture material,the thesis expounds the relationship between material crafting performance and material crafting process in each era.The industrial era is a turning point in the development of the crafting technology.Therefore,the thesis emphasis on the characteristics of the crafting of architecture material in this era in terms of power,tools,modularization,industrialization,and materialperformance.Entering the post-industrial era,the crafting of architecture material presents a "comprehensive"characteristic.This characteristic not only represents the complexity of material practices,but the subdivision of crafting industry and comprehensive globalization.Meanwhile,it could also provide a way to form a "comprehensive" cognition of materials and personalized material useand creation.In order to analyze the complexity of the comprehensive crafting of materials,the thesis discusses from the perspective of construction performance,which is a formal expression based on the rational organization of materials and structures.The thesis expounds the construction performance of the comprehensive crafting from four aspects:excavation of expressive power,possibility of individualization,systematic features and improvement of precision.The author hopes that through the research in this thesis,the relevant practice of the comprehensive crafting of materials will be analyzed to provide a further reference for understanding the relationship between materials,craftsmanship and crafting process in this era.
