| The purpose of this study is to investigate the spaciality of Japanese tea garden and strolling garden. In the garden, visitors will feel a series of continuous fragmented landscape nodes. This spatial concept, with the principle of continuous observation,is a distinctive feature of Japanese garden, which can also be observed in urban design, architecture, painting and literature. This research is about how to better integrate visitors’ sports into landscape design,as a prerequisite for full perception of space. Therefore, this study can show how to analyze the structure and characteristics of these two different types of continuous spaces, namely,Japanese tea garden and Japanese stroll garden,to achieve a more active space configuration mode for visitors in the garden. The study emphasizes the relationship between environment and human beings, and the "availability" of landscape environment for tourists--a theory developed by the late James Gibson(James J.Gibson).Although not limited to this, the core analysis of this study is based on Gibson’s ecological method and Harry heft’s research results on ecological psychology. In the empirical part of the study,a variety of gardens are used as examples,as well as the case studies of tea garden model and walking garden model,Shixian Hall(located in Kyoto). The purpose of this study is to obtain the description of the knowledge and technology of landscape spatial form, and on the premise of not neglecting the importance of the movement subject in landscape architecture, these knowledge can be strengthened and utilized by landscape architects. This kind of knowledge system can be used as the initial method of spatial design sequence, and everyone may obtain some potential learning, which is not only meaningful for the comprehensive understanding of Japanese garden, but also can generate a kind of motivational thinking mode for the perceiver’s movement in the space in the environment shaping, and promote more spaces in which the perceiver and the environment blend and actively participate in garden design It plays an enlightening role. |
