With the prosperity and development of container transportation,it not only makes its market demand more and more, but also promotes the development of large-scale ships, which makes the major shipping companies pursue scale economic benefits. However, the problems brought by the development of large-scale ships can not be ignored. On the one hand,it has very high requirements for the port's loading and unloading technology, water depth conditions and other infrastructure, and only large-scale trunk ports can meet the berthing conditions;on the other hand, the large-scale economic benefits of large-scale ships can be achieved on the basis of sufficient supply of goods, otherwise large-scale ships will only increase dramatically operating costs. As a result, these situations can be improved through container transportation of feeder lines. The container transportation of feeder line mainly relies on small and medium-sized ships to carry out container collection and distribution activities between hub port and spoke port.Compared with large-scale ships, small and medium-sized ships do not have high requirements for the facilities and equipment of berthing port,so small and medium-sized ships can flexibly and nimbly complete the transportation activities between ports, and can make good response to the emergency situation.According to the analysis of the actual operation of a shipping company,at present, most of the container transportation modes of the feeder line are point-to-point heavy container transportation between the hub port and the spoke port around Bohai Sea.In this mode, the number of ships allocated to the route is large, the utilization rate of the containers is low,and the empty container transportation in feeder ports is not considered, which is not economical for the overall operation cost of the container transportation. Therefore, this paper attempts to find a hybrid transport mode, which integrates some point-to-point routes into one route to meet the needs of its empty and heavy container transportation.Compared with the original point-to-point transportation mode, the segment flow in this mode has increased, and then the navigation distance has been shortened, and larger ships can be used to reduce the number of route ship allocation and empty box circulation, improve the utilization rate of ship box,and reduce the cost of the whole route operation.Based on the above reasons, this paper first introduces the related overview and development status of container transportation in the feeder line in detail, then constructs a model with the objective function of selecting the scheme with the lowest route operation cost, and proposes an improved genetic algorithm which combines the propagation mechanism of invasive weed optimization algorithm with the local optimization mutation operator, based on the improved genetic algorithm and linear programming, the heuristic algorithm formed by the algorithm is used to solve the model in this paper. Finally, this paper takes the container transportation of the feeder line around Bohai Sea as an example to analyze the difference between the improved route operation cost and the original transportation mode, which proves that this method has reference significance for the optimization of the container transportation route of the feeder line.
