Artistic Research On Architectural Installation Based On Structural Bionics Design

In recent years,the design class has advocated the combination of ecology and design.For one thing,the rapid development of industrial technology has brought many possibilities for design.For another,it thanks to the self-reflection made by the human beings when they constantly destroy the natural environment in the process of their development.Bionics is just in line with such a design trend.As one of the important branches of bionics,structural bionics has become the most used design style in recent years.The structural bionics,which is based on a natural prototype,is to be transformed into a digital or technical model that can be understood and then to be applied by extracting relevant structural and behavioral features as design elements.The application of this design method on the devices for buildings not only has strong structural logic but also possesses artistic beauty,and can form a novel spatial form and structure of the architectural installations.The research on architectural installation art,which is based on structural bionic design,first explores the research background of structural bionics to produce the title of this thesis.By reviewing the development of structural bionic design both at home and abroad as well as combining the theoretical knowledge of several interdisciplinary subjects,such as bionics,mechanics,architecture,aesthetics,psychology,to sort out the theoretical system and construction system of structural bionic design in the architectural installations.This thesis mainly focuses on the research both horizontally and vertically: as for the horizontal aspect,it is about how to transform the natural prototype into a digital or technical model through the designer and then apply it into the structural bionic design,after that it proves the logic and artistic sense of structure bionic design through studying a large number of relevant cases;as for the vertical aspect,it aims at the generated elements of structural bionic design: spatial form,functional application,urban environment interaction,technical operation and provides the in-depth explanation of the factors affecting the design,and then adopts four representative cases from concrete to abstract and from macro to the medium,to verify the vertical theory.Last,it will use the above theoretical logic,and take the new campus-Pingfeng Campus of Zhejiang University of Technology as a practice project,to design the campus architectural installations with structural bionics as the design method.This thesis uses the above as the logic of writing,and applies the structural bionic design combined with theories into practice,thus providing new design perspective and method for the structural bionic design.
