With the rapid development of cities,the issues like traffic congestion and environmental pollution are becoming increasingly severe,giving priority to the development of urban public transit can effectively smooth out the contradiction between the motorized travel demand of citizens and the supply of road resources.The route choice behavior of passengers,when travelling with urban public transit,reflects the choice results of passengers based on time,cost and comfort,so the travel regularity of passengers can be obtained through the study of the route choice behavior of passengers,providing a further understanding of their travel needs and a guidance for the improvement of transit service quality.Under the continuously improved intelligent transit system,the IC card data,automatic vehicle location system(AVL)and automatic fare collection system(AFC)have supported the study of passengers’ travel route choice behavior,which provides an opportunity for the exploration of its travel regularity in multi-level and multi-angel.Based on the passengers’ boarding,alighting and transfer data obtained from the intelligent transit system of Chengdu,taking origin and destination point(OD)which belongs to the bus stops in the transit network as the research object,this paper aims to extract the direct and transfer route choice set of passengers,and then to analyze the characteristics of their travel behavior from the aspects of space-time and so on,besides,to carry on the multivariate regression analysis on the passengers’ route choice behavior.Firstly,with the goal of gaining OD dataset,this paper obtains the direct and transfer route choice set of passengers between OD,then considered with the statistical results of passengers’ route choice set,the research scope of OD dataset has been selected.Given that situations of direct and transfer route differ,the time dataset of the route and the number dataset of bus stops of the route applied in the research are obtained respectively.Secondly,referring to the analysis of passengers’ travel behavior in the existing literature and combined with the obtained OD dataset,this paper analyzes the characteristics of passengers’ direct route and alternative transfer route choice behavior from four aspects of overall situation,time,space and loyalty level,meanwhile preliminarily examining the factors that influence their route choice behavior.Based on the previous research on the contributing factors,and combined with the preliminary results,multiple linear regression equation was applied to quantitatively analyze the effect of multiple contributing factors on passengers’ route choice behavior.The results show that the total time difference,travel time on alternative transfer route,a different number of bus stops between direct route and alternative transfer route and the waiting time at the boarding stop of alternative transfer route had a significant impact on the alternative transfer rate,a corresponding variable.Among them,the total time difference was found to have the most significant effect on the route choice behavior of passengers.Finally,based on the passengers’ travel route choice results,a binary logit model is established to estimate the transfer penalty on weekdays of Chengdu.The model considers the in-vehicle time and the number of transfer.Moreover,the transfer penalty can be applied to the transit assignment to improve the accuracy of the model.
