| Traffic congestion has been one of major issues that most metropolises are facing.Traffic congestion wastes time and energy,causes pollution and stress,decreases productivity and imposes costs on society.It is believed that study on drivers’ physiological response is the important part for finding appropriate mitigation measures.At present,scholars at home and abroad mainly study the harm of road traffic congestion from the aspects of formation mechanism,relieving strategy and environmental pollution,while the study on the influence of traffic congestion on drivers’ physical and mental health and driving behavior is still in its infancy.Therefore,this paper focuses on the physiological and behavioral characteristics of the driver under the condition of congestion,and quantifies the driving behavior and physiological characteristics of drivers due to the influence of traffic congestion.As an important measure of driver’s eye movement,this paper deals with the parameters of gaze,saccade and blink.As an effective index of human brain activity,EEG(Electroencephalogram)plays an important role in driving field.In this paper,driver’s EEG signal is extracted as research data also.Hoping to explore the driver’s response system after traffic congestion in an all-round way.Measuring the follow-up driving behavior and physiological characteristics of drivers who have experienced traffic congestion were designed to achieve three objectives.First,the changing of driver’s driving behaviors and physiological characteristics after experiencing traffic congestion is analyzed.Second,"PE-response" models that under different driving conditions are established by hierarchical clustering method.Third,the effect of music on drivers during driving is evaluated.Participants were asked to complete 4 trials of simulated drive.Four randomly assigned trials were as follows,trial 1 with light traffic flow,trial 2 with congested scenario,trail 3 with congested road and playing smoothing music along driving,and trail 4 with congested road and playing DJ music along driving.The results showed that drivers who had experienced traffic congestion had significantly differences with those who had not experienced traffic congestion.They had faster driving speeds,greater acceleration,more unstable throttle and steering wheel control.Driver’s fixation area were also narrowed.The cautious performance and aware searching strategy were defined as a safe performance model.Drivers had a more aware searching strategy and significant decreased alpha power of frontal area while driving along with the music.Music can mitigate the bad state influenced by the congestion. |
