Faced with the strong trend of globalization,the rational development of regional architecture is imminent.In the process of actively absorbing and integrating the world’s excellent architectural culture,the characteristics and individuality of regional culture are constantly strengthened,so as to achieve cultural consciousness and identity.As an intuitive expression of architecture,materials play a self-evident role in regional architecture.Developing and researching building materials from the perspective of "regionalism" can promote the integration of architecture and environment,highlight the characteristics of the times and solve the regional problems brought about by globalization.From the perspective of east Asia,China and Japan have had close cultural exchanges since ancient times.Architecture has certain "similarity",namely "commonness",and their "difference",namely "personality".The article focuses on the regionalism of contemporary architecture,and chooses all the architectural works of Wang Shu of China and Kengo Kuma of Japan as the research objects.By comparing and analyzing the selection of building materials and the application of architectural techniques,the article explores the expression methods of regional architecture of the times,and analyzes the relationship between materials,techniques and regions and times.The thesis is discussed from the following four parts one by one.The first part raises questions corresponding to the contents of the first chapter.Chapter one,introduction,first introduces the research background of this topic:the disappearance of traditional culture,thinking and confusion and rebirth,and puts forward the core topic of this paper: how to era regional architecture.Then it analyzes the feasibility and necessity of regional architecture research,and the research object,content,method and framework of this topic are briefly described.The second part analyzes the problem,corresponding to the second and third chapters.The second and third chapters are the theoretical basis of the thesis.Taking time as the node,the thesis introduces the historical origin of Chinese and Japanese architectural culture,and summarizes the domestic and foreign related researches on regional architecture,so as to provide the historical theoretical support for the main body of the subsequent thesis.The third part of the problem solving,corresponding to the content of chapters four to six.The fourth,fifth and sixth chapters are the theoretical core construction of the thesis.The fourth and fifth chapters analyze the material use preference and the application of architectural techniques of Wang Shu and Kengo Kuma’s architectural works,and to make a thorough interpretation and detailed analysis of the material and techniques expression of regional architecture combined with classical cases.this paper makes an in-depth interpretation and detailed analysis of the regional architecture of material and techniques expression.Chapter six compares the traditional materials of Wang Shu and Kengo Kuma’s architectural works by perceptual evaluation experiments and factor analysis.The three chapters summarizes the regional expression of materials and techniques in the architectural era and the influence of materials on the return of traditional culture.The fourth part of the summary and outlook,corresponding to the content of chapters seven.The seventh chapters are the conclusion of this paper.It summarizes the main theoretical results of this paper,points out the imperfections of this study,and makes a prospect for the follow-up research of this paper.
