The shunting work is an important and complicated work in the railway station organization. It is the main work in technical station, especially in the marshalling station. It is the safety of shunting work directly that affects whether the task can be done on time, whether the train can be delivered on time, whether the production can be completed. It is the safety of shunting work plays a very important role in ensuring transport improving transport efficiency, reducing transportation costs and maintaining good transport order. This paper introduces the basic theory of railway shunting, and analyzes the four factors of human, equipment, environment and management that affect the safety of railway shunting work and their relationship with each other.Based on the factor analysis method, five cases of Guangzhou Railway's shunting accident were analyzed, and corresponding suggestions were given. In the analysis of the railway shunting safety system, the Accident Tree Analysis(ATA)method was used to analyze 33 typical shunting accidents, and the structural importance of each influencing factor was obtained, and the targeted measures to improve the safety of railway shunting were given. The Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP)method was used to evaluate the shunting safety system. The structure and content of the working safety system are determined though the analysis of the safety system.Through the weight table given by the expert, the weight of the evaluation index is determined and calculated, and the consistency of the verification is adopted. Finally, the weight of the index is determined. For the evaluation index score, take the expert to determine the score, determine the index score, summed up theshunting safety system score. The safety system ofshunting in Guangzhou area was evaluated by fractional analysis at last.
