Because of the international financial crisis in 2008,the international shipping market had been significantly affected,and the decline in trade volume had caused an unprecedented impact on the liner shipping industry.For liner shipping companies,the decisions of liner deployment and route planning are directly related to the shipping company's operating costs and future survival and development.Therefore,liner shipping companies need to formulate scientific and reasonable decision-making plans based on the actual situation of operations,to continuously improve the service level and market competitiveness of shipping companies and provide intellectual support for their own development.Primarily,this study discussed the research background,research purposes and research significance of liner deployment,schedule and container routing problem,and summarized the domestic and foreign research literature related to liner deployment and container routing.This paper also elaborated the main contents of the research,the research methods,research framework and innovations of the research are also introduced.Moreover,this study provided a comprehensive overview of the theoretical basis of liner deployment,schedules and container routing optimization issues,mainly focusing on two aspects,namely,liner deployment overview,container routing selection overview and the guiding theory of integration problem of liner deployment,timetable and container routing.The guiding theory includes two aspects: liner route optimization decision and liner speed optimization decision.What is more,combined with the research questions,the model of liner deployment,schedule and container routing optimization was constructed,and the problems studied were described in detail.The model comprehensively considered the fixed operating costs related to ship deployment decision.the fuel consumption cost associated with timetable decision,the container transshipment handling cost associated with the container routing,the container transshipment storage cost associated with the container routing and the schedule,and the container delay penalty cost associated with the container routing and the schedule.At the same time,the hypothesis of the model was stated,and a nonlinear integer programming model was constructed.Some methods were used to linearize the non-linear part of the model to transform it into a linearized model that is easy to solve by CPLEX.In addition,according to the linearized mathematical model that was transformed,this paper analyzed the characteristics of liner deployment,schedule and container routing problem.According to the scale of the problem,three different heuristic algorithms are designed: a local branching algorithm for medium-scale shipping problems,a particle swarm optimization algorithm for large-scale shipping problems and a bidirectional tuning algorithm for ultra-large shipping.At the end of the chapter,a large number of numerical experiments were carried out,including assigning values to the parameters in the model,and verifying the validity of the algorithm and the efficiency of the mathematical model.Finally,based on the numerical experimental results,the research findings were summarized.Combined with the research status and the limitations of this research,the paper showed the future research aspects could be further explored in the future.
