The mechanisms such as naming content and self-verification content in the Named Data Network(NDN)communication model make NDN more suitable for the challenging demands of Vehicular Ad Hoc Network(VANET).In some existing studies,the NDN communication model is integrated into VANET(V-NDN)to resolve the security issues in VANET.However,these paradigms do not prevent the network from different classes of attacks.And security and privacy still is a hindrance on the success of such emerging networks.In addition,new types of security attacks have been introduced.For example,any malicious vehicle can monitor content name by observing Interest/Data packet,create and send fake content to mislead other vehicle.And a vehicle controlled by an attacker can also flood unnecessary content requests and cache the content in intermediate nodes for future requests.Fake messages related to traffic safety can be also used to cause accidents.So,it is vital to distinguish possible malicious attacks in the network.Aiming at the aforementioned deficiencies,this thesis tries to make use of the immutability character of the information in the Blockchain and propose a solution BV-NDN based on Blockchain.In BV-NDN,the communication related to traffic information in the network is regarded as “transaction” information and stored in the Blockchain to verify and audit these information later.The BV-NDN scheme can reduce the above security problems.In this thesis,the main research works are as follow:1.To set up the network,an authentication mechanism based on the Elliptic Curve Cryptosystems(ECC)for encryption and verification algorithm and the permissioned Blockchain for the entities in the Network were designed,in which the Blockchain manager validates the identity of a node who wants to join the network and save their identities and other cryptographic materials in a tamper proof storage under the Blockchain repository.2.For verifying and validating the traffic data information to the network,a communication protocol for data sharing is designed and only legal vehicles can communicate with RSUs.In addition,Bayesian interference mechanism is used to rate the credibility of data packets in the voting mechanism.And nodes in the network collaboratively verify the data packets shared in the network.The RSUs validate each data packet and record them in a Blockchain ledger as a transaction for future use.3.A Practical Byzantine Fault Tolerance(PBFT)Consensus mechanism with 4 stages:broadcast,verification,confirm and reply is used.This scheme is adopted to agree on content data to be saved to the Blockchain and construct the chain of block.Finally,we analyze the security attributes of our proposed scheme and theoretically analyze its efficiency,correctness,feasibility and reliability,and we verify our solution using ndnSIM 2.3 simulation framework.The simulation evaluation of the scheme shows its security and efficiency against different attacks.
