Vehicle indoor air quality means the volatile organic compound(VOC)emitted by the non-metal material in the vehicle interior which can be harmful to the driver and passengers' health.The Chinese government published ?Guidelinefor air quality assessment of passenger car?in 2011 to control the vehicle indoor air quality.Although the OEMs has their own system for material,components and vehicle test,because of the complexity of the emission property,it is very difficult to make correlation between material,components and vehicle test results and find the root cause that makes big contribution to the vehicle indoor air quality,and this will bring difficulty and uncertainty to control and improvement.Now there is a new model M which is under development and will be subjected to the GB requirement after its release,and there is risk that some VOC is still out of range,so the improvement of the existing control process is necessary.This paper presents how to breakdown the vehicle indoor air quality issue and identify the main source and root cause.By correlating the vehicle status and the main source,the vehicle indoor air quality can be simulated and predicted.Check all the manufacture process of all the main source,identify the problems in the human resource management,equipment and facility management,material management,technique and manufacture management,environment management,and make improvement to the existing control process to ensure the vehicle indoor air quality of Model M can meet the GB regulation requirement.At last establish vehicle indoor air quality prediction process and method in the early stage of the program development which can shorten the checking,improving and validation duration,lower the risk and avoid the program delay due to the vehicle indoor air quality improvement,make sure the development process finish on time.
