It has been decades since the emergence of container shipping.With the development of shipping industry,the current container ships on the marine market mainly presents the trend of larger,more economical and greener.In the pursuit of lower costs of container transport,the container capacity of a single vessel is getting larger and larger.Large container vessel to Ultra-large container vessel,the container vessel developed at an astonishing pace.In this situation,Ultra-large container vessels attract the eyes of the whole shipping industry because of their amazing container capacity,high transport and loading efficiency and relatively lower cost.Container vessel is a typical kind of big opening ship.The hatch opening may exceed 80% of its breath,even 90%.It brings a series of strength problems to ship designer.Ultra-large container vessel structure design is very complicated and attracts more and more attention from all the parties.In this thesis,we start with the midship section design of a ultra-large container vessel.According to the rule calculation,we can get the scantling of the structure.In view of the big opening character of the ultra-large container vessel,we mainly focused on the stress analysis,and a optimization for some structure was carried out.Base on this optimized midship section,more studies are carried out for the structure design.In addition to this,FEA(finite element analysis)is used to check the cargo hold construction according to the rule.Yielding and buckling assessment is carried out for the main structures such as double bottom,typical web frames,water-tight bulkhead and supporting bulkhead.According to the analysis,we can find the low stress area and carry out the optimization design.Then we focus on the supporting bulkhead,and 2 different design is proposed.By using FEM comparative analysis,we conclude a final optimized design which achieved practical application.And it can be a reference for the ultra-large container vessel structure design.
