The loess has a wide distribution in the world. The life and production of people in China, especially in the Loess Plateau, are inseparable from the loess. At the same time, the granularity of loess contains a lot of information. The granularity is not only regarded as an important carrier reflecting the Quaternary paleoclimate and paleo environment, but also an important index for evaluating its engineering geological properties and hydrogeology. Therefore, more and more people are investing in the scientific research of particle size measurement. With the development of the times, screening, sedimentation and hydrometer methods have many defects that are difficult to adapt to today's pursuit of efficient and accurate scientific research.Instead, laser particle size analyzers are used for particle size measurement. In addition, the pretreatment of the sample affects the accuracy of the test. The results of different pre-treatment methods and the same sample processed by the instrument are very different. The results obtained by different pre-treatment methods of the same measuring instrument also have deviations. On the other hand, due to the differences in the configuration of scientific research laboratories in different laboratories, this leads to poor contrast between scientific research results, thus greatly limiting the research work of particle size measurement. In order to improve this problem,a new grinding method was designed based on the traditional dry grinding. The soil samples prepared by the grinding and grinding were taken as the research objects. The soil sample prepared by the new grinding method was measured for particle size, and the results showed that the new grinding method was significantly better than the mortar grinding method. The changes in the percentages, median diameters, and mean diameters of the loess particles obtained by studying the grinding methods mentioned in this paper were found:(1)The number of grinding has certain influence on loess particles of different particle size levels. It is found that the percentage of particles with particle size ?10?m and ?3?m changes greatly during the continuous increase of grinding times. It has also been found that the particle size is bounded by particles of 5~6?m,and the percentage of particles with particle size ?5?m increases in the process of increasing the number of grinding times. The percentage of particles with particle size between ?6?m is in the grinding. There is a decreasing trend in the process of increasing the number of times, and the percentage change of the particles with particle size ?10?m is obvious.(2)Increasing the load can promote the grinding to a certain extent.Different grinding loads have different grinding effects on loess samples. The median diameter of soil samples can be seen in the process of increasing the load from 0 to 2kg.The percentage of particles with particle size ?3?m increases from 5 times to 5 times. The extent of the change in the course of 90 times increased. When the load is increased to 4kg,the degree of grinding of the sample is obviously better than that of the load of 2kg.Under the condition of 4kg load, the percentage of particles with particle size between 3~4?m gradually increases. The percentage of particles between 4~5?m is changed from the original tendency to increase with the number of grinding times to decrease as the number of grinding times increases. In addition, the median diameter of the samples in the two places also showed a significant decrease, indicating that the effect of grinding was significantly improved when the load was increased to 4 kg,and the variation of each parameter of the soil sample was 4 kg when the load continued to increase to 6 kg.No major changes were observed,so the load condition of 4 kg was considered to be the optimum load of the grinding instrument.(3)After comparison,it is found that the loess sample prepared by using the mortar has the problem that the measurement result fluctuates greatly in the process of particle size measurement, and the sample prepared by the grinding method used in the test is subjected to the particle size measurement and the measurement result is found.Discrete type is smaller than the result obtained by grinding and grinding.
