EPC model is derived from Conditions of Contract for EPC and Turnkey Project and Conditions of Contract for EPC(silver-cover book),which were published respectively in 1995 and 1999 by FIDIC and they are the commonly-used model contract in the international engine ering contracting. This model has eradicated the potential contradicts in the engineering and construction.Instead,it connects directly the procurement of engineering materials with the engineering construction so that the safety and high efficiency of engineering construction can be guaranteed. Moreover, the EPC model can better achieve the optimal management of the target cost. The official document,Guiding Opinions on Nurturing EPC and Engineering Project Management Enterprises, has indicated more clearly the importance and necessity of promoting EPC and engineering project management in the field of engineering construction in China. This thesis, under the guidance of relevant theories on project management and making refere nce to the EPC model, aims to make an integral use of the cost control and management in projects and to explore how to strengthen project cost control for our company, even the whole engineering industry in China.Furthermore, the author, from the perspective of general contrac tor, used the earned value method to analyze the influence factors for EPC cost control as well as the result of cost control through real cases.Combining theoretical knowledge, the author analyzed the advantages and disadvantages of cost control appearing in the real cases and put forward corresponding optimizing measures so as to increase the comprehensive strength of general contractors and to savecost to the greatest extent. As a result, both economic and social benefits can be achieved and certain experience can be accumulated for the future EPC projects.
