China's investment in transportation infrastructure is increasing, and the surrounding areas of high-speed rail and high-speed rail stations will become the focus of the development of stationed cities. From the perspective of high-speed railway development,high-speed rail has made the cities along the line closer, but some studies have pointed out that this connection is at the expense of the interests of less developed cities along the route, only to the development of a few central cities.opportunity.The high-speed rail has become a major factor in attracting labor to the city by virtue of its high speed, convenience and safety. However, the "aisle effect" and "siphon effect" generated by the high-speed rail trains to underdeveloped cities along the route will cause weakening of their industrial competitiveness, and the loss of high-quality resources and talents. Therefore, studying the impact of high-speed railways on employment in cities along the line from the perspective of underdeveloped cities is an urgent problem for local governments and academic circles along the high-speed rail.Through the study of related literatures at home and abroad, and through relevant economic theories, this paper combs the employment path of high-speed railways to underdeveloped areas along the line from the perspective of supply and demand, and constructs a comprehensive employment impact mechanism framework. The micro-data obtained through the questionnaire found that high-speed rail has a certain impact on the employment of underdeveloped cities, but these conclusions cannot clearly explain how the impact mechanism of high-speed rail on employment in less developed cities along the line is.Therefore, with the help of macro data, this paper uses the double difference model to quantitatively analyze the impact of high-speed railway construction on employment in underdeveloped areas along the line. The basic logic is to find out the treatment group and the control group, and then compare their employment differences. It mainly analyzes the changes brought about by the overall employment, industrial heterogeneity and market size heterogeneity employment in underdeveloped areas along the route. The empirical results of this paper find that: First,high-speed rail can promote the improvement of the overall employment level of underdeveloped cities along the line, but this kind of positive pull effect is smaller than that of big cities.Secondly, the impact of Beijing-Shanghai high-speed rail on the employment of different industries in underdeveloped cities is significant: Beijing-Shanghai high-speed rail has no significant impact on the employment of the primary industry in underdeveloped cities along the route, but it has significantly promoted the secondary and tertiary industries and the employment growth of the secondary industry.Promote greater. Finally,by comparing the underdeveloped cities of different city sizes, compared with large cities,high-speed rail has a significant inhibitory effect on the overall employment of small and mediumsized underdeveloped cities, especially for the secondary industries in these regions. At the same time, through the comparative analysis of the dynamic time period of the Beijing-Shanghai high-speed rail to the overall employment in the underdeveloped areas along the line,it is found that the impact of the three years before the opening of the highspeed railway on the employment of underdeveloped cities along the line is not significant, but it has begun to promote after three years of opening. This may be due to the lag effect of high-speed rail construction, and the employment effect of high-speed rail on cities along the route is long-term.Based on the above research findings, the paper puts forward relevant policy recommendations on how to improve employment in underdeveloped cities along the high-speed rail.
