As the "second classroom" for college students in the new era,the university student activity center not only provides the main place for the innovative development of educational ideas in the new era,but also serves as an important platform for the improvement and development of College Students’ comprehensive abilities such as self-learning,team work and interest cultivation. Therefore,it is of great significance to continuously explore the subject research of university student activity center. With the continuous development of higher education in China, under the impact of the expansion of enrollment and the concept of higher education, the existing space, function and teaching environment of the original college student activity center are in contradiction with the new teaching needs. As the "second classroom" for college students in the new era,the outdated college student activity center not only provides the main place for the innovation and development of educational ideas in the new era,but also serves as an important platform for the improvement and development of College Students’ comprehensive abilities such as autonomous learning, team cooperation and interest cultivation. This paper takes the university student activity center of eight new campuses in Xi’an as a typical case to study. On the basis of deep and extensive study of relevant theories and practices at home and abroad,a large number of field research and analysis have been carried out.Through horizontal comparative study,it points out that the existing university student activity center location, function allocation and three key space design(viewing space, public communication space)have been pointed out. There are some problems in the student activity space, and the design strategies are put forward. In order to better adapt to the new era’s educational mode, concept and the basic needs of College Students’ life and behavior habits,it is necessary to build a new college students’ activity center in the new campus. This paper investigates and analyses the current situation of College Students’ activity center so as to better meet the needs of College Students’ life and behavior habits in the new era.It is particularly important to provide valuable basic information for new construction andrenovation. The article is divided into four parts:The first part is the introduction, which mainly describes the research background, object and scope of the subject, and clarifies the purpose, significance, research methods and framework of the subject based on the analysis of the research status at home and abroad. The second part is an overview of the development of university student activity centers.Through the research on the development and evolution of university student activity centers in different periods at home and abroad, the development trend of university student activity centers in the future is predicted. The third part takes the university student activity centers of eight new campuses of universities in Xi’an as an example to conduct research and analysis. In the early stage, accurate basic data were obtained by means of data collection, questionnaire survey, interview survey, field survey and mapping, and then the site selection, function allocation, viewing space, communication space and activity space of university student activity center were summarized. The fourth part makes a deep study on the planning, location, function allocation, viewing space, communication space and activity space of eight university student activity centers.Through analysis, horizontal comparison and case comparison at home and abroad, the basic problems of each part are summarized, and some design strategies are put forward.
