To comply with the trend of the green power aviation,this thesis has carried out the study of fuelcell-powered electrical light aircraft design.The purpose of this thesis is to develop a conceptual design method for the fuel-cell-powered electrical light aircraft,and to provide an example for the conceptual design of the fuel-cell-powered electrical light aircraft.The thesis uses the hydrogen fuel-cell-powered electrical light aircraft E20-FC as an example to illastrate the design process of the propulsion system and configuration,analysis and evaluation of the conceptual scheme,and structure layout.The contents of the thesis are arranged as below.1)A new propulsion system based on hydrogen fuel cell was designed to meet the performance requirements of E20-FC.The energy system consists of fuel cells,a hydrogen storage tank and a battery.The designed electric propulsion system is able to meet power the requirements for take-off,climb and cruise phase of E20-FC aircraft,and also can meet the requirement of 200 km range.2)The sizing for the main parameters and the selection for overall configuration of the E20-FC aircraft were completed.The wing loading and power-weight ratio were determinded.The E20-FC is a conventional configuration aircraft with low wing.The external shape parameters of the wing,fuselage and empennage were selected,and the layout for landing gear was determinded.A 3D configuration of the E20-FC aircraft was created by use of software CATIA.3)The analysis and evaluation for the conceptual scheme of E20-FC aircraft was completed,including weight,aerodynamic,flight performance and longitudinal static stability evaluation.The analysis has proved that the concept design of E20-FC aircraft meets the requirements.4)The structure material was selected and the preliminary structure layout was carried out.The structural materials are mainly made of epoxy carbon fiber composites,and foam materials are used as fillers to increase the structural strength.According to the characteristics of the wing,fuselage and tail,the preliminary structure layout for these components were completed.The outcome of this thesis identifies the feasibility of the conceptual scheme of E20-FC aircraft,and conceptual design method for the fuel-cell-powered electrical light aircraft presented in the thesis is useful.
