Huajie of Hankou refers to the Hankou City, which is apart from the concession in Hankou after the opening of Hankou. It is the most accustomed name in the late Qing Dynasty. At present, the research on urban spatial pattern mostly uses field research and literature research methods, and there are few studies that link the Qing Dynasty map with the maps of the Republic of China and New China.Starting from more than 40 historical maps related to Huajie of Hankou, this paper takes the spatial elements on the map as the main research object, supplemented by historical materials, surveys, images and other materials. For the sake of rigor, different interpretations and methods are studied for maps of different periods.Combined with GIS computer technology, the historical mapping maps of the Republic of China and the New China period are finely registered, and then the elements are extracted and positioned. The street maps in the late Qing Dynasty are freehand, but the relative positions have certain accuracy and relevance. The topological relationship is understood. The terrain names and historical relics on the map correspond to the standard base maps one by one,and the elements are extracted and positioned.Through the analysis of different spatial elements(such as streets, halls, temples, government offices, docks, etc.),we try to explore the implicit law behind the rise and fall of the city. The paper is divided into four parts. The first part is an overview of Huajie of Hankou historical map and map registration research. The map is divided into five stages: traditional map,map influenced by Western surveying methods in the late Qing Dynasty, scientific map of the late Qing Dynasty, map of the Republic of China,New China period map.It also expounds the registration method of mapping map and the method of location extraction of elements;the second part analyzes the evolution of elements such as Liteng,Hutang marshland, street and other factors from the perspective of urban pattern, and analyzesthe reasons behind it;From the perspective of architecture, analyze the distribution patterns of halls, government offices, temples, and wharves in different eras, and combine them with the background of sociology to clarify their evolution rules. The fourth part selects several historical areas and uses maps to interpret them. The method of mining the transformation of urban spatial elements.Based on historical maps and related image data, this paper sorts out the changes and patterns of the changes of the lakes and ponds and streets in the Hankou period and the architectural elements(such as the halls, government offices, etc.)during the Qing Dynasty to the New China.change.Studying the map can lead to the encryption and development of the street system. In different ages, the activity levels of different regions are different. The distribution of each building element has its own aggregation and is related to each other.
