With the development of economy and technology,bridges play an increasingly important role in infrastructure construction in many countries.However,due to the differences of geographical environment,industrial development and traffic volume in different countries,there are also some differences in the corresponding bridge specifications.Many countries in the Arabian Peninsula do not have their own codes,but adopt American or Chinese codes.In order to provide a reasonable reference for bridge construction in the Arabian Peninsula,this paper compares the differences of bridge design codes between Chinese codes and the United States codes.The following work has been accomplished:1.The research status,methods and significance of bridge specifications in Chinese codes and the American codes are introduced.2.The current bridge design codes in the American and Europe are compared,and the design loads(static load,live load,seismic load,etc.)are summarized.3.According to the different provisions in the bridge design codes of Chinese codes and the American codes,the differences in the basic principles,materials,loads and load combination of bridge design are discussed.4.Using the finite element analysis software Midas/Civil established the finite element calculation and analysis model of Prestressed simply supported Beam BridgeThe load combinations are applied according to the codes of the two countries.The main calculation contents are: permanent action effect,variable action effect,action effect combination and bending capacity of normal section.The certainty and reliability of the structure are compared and analyzed.On the basis of summing up the research results of predecessors,the similarities and differences of the certainty and reliability of simply supported prestressed concrete girder bridges are studied in depth according to the relevant regulations of Chinese codes and American codes,and the engineering application analysis is carried out as an example.Considering the low population density of the Arabian Peninsula,AASHTO design is more appropriate.
