Research On Street Design Strategy Based On Urban Characteristics

In recent years,China's economic construction has been in a period of rapid development,and has achieved a series of remarkable achievements.But so fast development has produced some problems.At the urban planning level,the rapid economic development has accelerated the flow of urban and rural populations,the urban population concentration and the rapid development of urban construction.But it has brought about a series of urban problems,such as traffic congestion,environmental degradation,lack of features and so on."The lack of urban characteristics" has received more and more attention from the government and the people in recent years.How to maintain and highlight the city's characteristics is a problem that urban planning workers need to seriously consider at this stage.The street is an important part of the city and it is the main space for people to taste the city's characteristics.Based on personal experience,paper and practical research,the relationship between city feature and street design is illustrated from three aspects: function,element and system,analysing city feature and streets.At the same time,a street design strategy that highlights city feature at the level of city streets is analysed,focused on the elements that affect streets design.The street design strategy presented in this paper is: First,screen the features of the city from three aspects,i.e.natural,historical and modern elements Second,thoroughly classify quality streets,which are filtered from general feature of the city and the resources of the street.The quality streets include natural,historical,modern and specialised streets.Finally,based on a human-oriented,prominent,introductory and systematic principle,combining streets overall elements,streets self elements and streets relevant elements,a series of viable strategies of natural streets,historical streets,modern streets and special streets are proposed according to each objective.The Haiguan Road in Wuhu City is set as an example,all of the strategies mentioned above are explained from a practical view.As the theories and practical researches of streets design from city feature are few,I hope this paper could be motivate.the strategies are mainly classified into three categories: streets overall strategy,streets self strategy and street relevant strategy.
