Under the policy background of building beautiful countryside proposed at the fifth plenary session of the 16 th CPC central committee, great changes have taken place in rural ecological environment and social outlook. However, rural areas in severe cold regions are backward in building beautiful countryside due to their remoteness and low economic level. They are still faced with serious environmental pollution, huge energy consumption and poor insulation performance of rural residential. At the same time, crop straw as a new green building materials has aroused wide attention in the construction industry.Due to its renewable, low carbon, low thermal conductivity and low price, the building materials made from straw are very suitable for solving the energy saving problems of self-built houses. Therefore, this paper proposes straw bricks as the main material of rural housing project, aiming to reduce the energy consumption of rural residential in severe cold areas and promote the use of straw resources in rural areas. In this paper, the straw rural residential is designed to achieve the purpose of energy conservation through two design paths: building envelope design and spatial layout optimization.Straw bricks are used as the insulation envelope component of the wall and roof, and the specification material combination component is set inside the wall to support the wall structure and transmit the roof load.Straw bricks on the roof are installed through integration with purlin, and at the same time assume the role of insulation and load bearing.Through the thermal calculation and verification of the wall and roof,it is concluded that the heat transfer coefficient of then are smaller than that of the traditional farming house envelope. The spatial layout of straw houses is optimized from two aspects of plane and section.A series of design methods, such as reasonable arrangement of room orientation and control of the size coefficient of houses, are used to reduce the energy consumption of rural residential. Finally, the energy consumption of straw brick rural residential and traditional rural residential is simulated by using DeST-h software. The results show that replacing the traditional building envelope with the new straw building envelope can bring the energy saving rate of 45.5%.Compared with the traditional space, the energy-saving rate of the new straw houses after spatial optimization reaches 55.3%.If the comprehensive technology of envelope structure and space optimization is used, the energy saving rate can reach 75.65%.The construction process of the whole structural system follows the principles of factory prefabricated components and on-site assembly construction, which improves the ease of building, ensures the economy and improves the practicality of rural residential. The straw rural residential scheme in this paper effectively reduces the energy consumption of rural houses in severe cold areas and improves the indoor thermal comfort. The air pollution caused by burning straw is reduced to some extent.Under the background of developing new green building materials vigorously,it provides a new idea for straw material application technology.
