Along with the civil aviation blooming,the demand for aircraft volume is pressing as well as the customized aircraft models.Most airlines are making huge investment on the airplane procurement.To ensure the market share in the fierce competition for aircraft,Chinese government launches a program to develop China's own big civil aircraft.Due to technology evolution and customized requirement,both airlines and customers have higher demands of safety,comfortability and economical efficiency,thus it establishes a serial of improvement request in aircraft R&D.Elaboration design is needed before aircraft finalisation,so the same product data changes during different period and appears diverse technology status,in another words,configuration.To properly constrain,control and manage the R&D procedure,ensure aircraft product data consistence,integrity and traceability within the data transmission and modification process,and follow a tight delivery timeline,configuration management is the essential approach.To solve the problem of difficult aircraft product structure establishing,various product configuration status in phases and the lack of controlling change management ways,this article analyses the configuration management key points based on the aircraft configuration management business requirement,including how to establish aircraft product structure,freeze the configuration status by configuration baseline,and to control engineering change.By developing configuration management system based on PLM,the function of product structure planning,configuration baseline controlling and engineering change management are realized,and are verified by cases.This system can record diverse configuration statuses for specific phases in aircraft R&D process,control data by means of baseline management,and achieve standard and efficient engineering change process.The main research work of this article is presented as follows.1.According to the aircraft program configuration management business demands,this article analyses the requirement of product structure planning,configuration baseline control and engineering change management based on product lifecycle management,and the overall system objective is settled.2.Based on the requirement analysis,three configuration management modules are designed.This article tries to demonstrate product structure design by multiple views,including definition view,design view,system view and test view.Configuration baseline module contains various baselines.This article states how to define the business process objects of baseline management,and design the process of creating and changing baseline.Furthermore,engineering change business is analyzed,involving effectiveness,business object modules,change type,change pattern and general workflow.3.This article describes the establishing of configuration management system,including: converting complex product structure information into data structure via data structure modeling of product structure,baseline data unique identification and business process object definition,algorithm design and data modeling of engineering change,configuration planning for product structure,etc..4.A configuration management system is developed based on PTC's PLM product–Windchill 9.1 with customization.Use Java as development language and Oracle 10 g as database software,as well as B/S architecture is adopted.The configuration management system deployment is based on below elements: customized codes on server,lifecycle template,workflow template,task form template,object oriented initialization,soft property and soft types.The effectiveness of system design is validated by application instance.The analysis and conclusion of the implementation is conducted.In summary,the configuration management methodology and its technical solution behaves positive in the aircraft project,and has some reference value for configuration management research.
