The development of China's auto market is very fast in recent years.The market competition is fierce.The China's auto market is NO.1 in the world since 2009,but will increase each year.It requires that the automobile manufacturers continue to expand capacity and promote new products in order to keep pace with market development.The intense market competition cause the enormous cost pressures to manufacturers.If the manufacturers want to maintain their competitiveness,they need to keep the enterprise operate effectively in all aspects.Especially for the manufacture system,the investment is huge and the demand of human resource is high.The key point is how to design the manufacture system well and operate effectively.The engine is the heart of a car,engine product system is a core system of vehicle manufacture systems as well.The engine assembly line is an important component of the engine production system.The modern engine has more and more complex structure and new technology innovation included.The complexity of assembly system planning is increasing.The process planners need to focus on how to design system with low cost and high quality.This research is inspired by the planning of SAIC-GM LGE assembly line expansion project.Using the production system design theory on industrial engineering and combined with the benchmark from GM,the engine assembly is redesigned for a new project.The process flow,manual station and auto station are redesigned.Base on time study and motion study,LGE assembly line process is balanced.A simulation model is built and validated the system planning.Analyzed system performance and optimized the assembly line.I finally achieve the comprehensive methods of assembly line design,balance and optimization.Finally,the results showed that: It cost 15 million RMB for capacity expansion.The capacity of assembly line increased from 300,000 to 400,000 per year.A brand new assembly line investment is saved and the total investment of nearly 50 million RMB is reduced.
