The Application Of "Darning" Method In Rural Landscape Reconstruction

Darning is a sewing technique to repair damaged clothes.It appeared in the period of economic underdevelopment and material shortage and was used to improve the utilization efficiency of clothes.When repairing the holes in clothes,some skillful craftsmen or housewives developed the darning techniques adapted to various textures and styles,decorated the holes,and made the poor life full of charm and significance.With the development and progress of The Times,the original value of darning has been gradually degraded,and its function has been transformed from repair to decoration.In costume design,it has become a simple and crude clothing style that imitates the effect of darning.The concept and the method of “darning” are refereed by urban planning and urban design,and it develops into a kind of urban planning theory.It is used to solve the problem of fragmented urban skin texture.Its core is to weave the traditional way of life in the urban development and updating through repairing,so as to protect and inherit urban historical context,and improve traditional urban space functions,enhance and update the urban cultural function,social function and aesthetic function,and establish new and old organic connection.Within the 40 years of reform and opening up,China has made remarkable achievements in social and economic development.However,as the source of reform and opening up policy,countryside has not fully enjoyed the dividend of era development.The countryside is backward,which rural environment is in urgent need of improvement and rural landscapes need to be rebuilt.In the memory,there are unsophisticated farmers,boundless farmland,winding roads,beautiful rivers and dense forests in countryside;there are wooden frames that air bask crops,the firewood that piles in the courtyard and the farming implements outside the room.The countryside is the poetry and dreamland for villagers.As for rural landscape reconstruction,it isnecessary to draw lessons from the “darning” theory of urban development,weave the“poetry and dreamland” of courtyard into the reality of rural scenes through “darning”policies and measures,repair rural environment,improve functional configuration,protect historical traces,and reconstruct new countryside with memory and reality mutually echoing under the support of new era,new material,and new technology.The author thinks that the urban “darning” design emphasizes the reconstruction of the overall environment,the renewal of spatial functions and the inheritance of human history.Because the “countryside has stable space,lacks functions,and has profound context”,“darning” design theory has guiding significance and practical value in the rural landscape reconstruction.It is suggested to weave the era beauty,life beauty and local beauty of countryside into rural landscapes through comprehensive mixing of material,color,form and context,drive the improvement of rural environment,perfect the functions of village space,protect the cultural history of countryside and reconstruct a new era of rural landscapes.Taking the design of the residential environment improvement project of Shengtian Village,Shichuan Town,Yubei District,Chongqing as an example,the effectiveness of the “weaving” design method in rural landscape reconstruction was explored.In the process of renovating the rural environment,the most simple rural memories – the traces of time,rural life and local sentiment were woven in.This thesis is composed of six parts.Chapter One elaborates on the origin,background and significance of the research.Combined with relevant case studies at home and abroad,the research object,content,method and framework are summarized.Chapter Two discusses the basic elements of rural landscape.Chapter Three elaborates on the original meaning and derivative meaning of “darning” and specific methods of “darning” cities.Chapter Four expounds the effectiveness of darning countryside and the significance of landscape reconstruction,and introduces the methods and functions of “darning” in rural landscape reconstruction.Chapter Five takes the landscape design of Shengtian Village,Shichuan Town,Yubei District,Chongqing as an example,analyzes the current situation,geographical resources and design scope of the design site,discusses the specific application and functions of darning method in the site,and provides a strong argument for the thesis.Chapter Six summarizes the research results,and thinks about and looks forward to the application of “darning” method in rural landscape reconstruction.
