The elliptic crank-rocker mechanism is a planetary geared five-bar linkage with its gear ratio for 2.Geared five-bar linkage is a kind of progressive and widely used combination mechanism.As we all know,the geared five-bar linkage has more dimension parameters than four-bar linkage.Therefore its motion is more difficult to predict.The elliptic crank-rocker mechanism employs elliptic crank as its drive crank.The analysis and synthesis of the elliptic crank-rocker contribute to find new motion characteristics,which make the mechanism meet the demands of production better.The main research work include:The existing cycloid generation mechanism has been modified,which becomes an adjustable mechanism.Graphical User Interface(GUI)of cycloid generation has been established based on MATLAB.The impact of various parameters on the elliptic crank could be studied with this GUI directly.The existing condition of elliptic crank-rocker mechanism has been studied on the basis of assembled condition of linkage mechanism,combining Grashof conditions and the space of rod rotation.The detail analysis is presented in this article.The method of complex vector widely applied in mechanism motion analysis is employed to establish mathematical model and analyze position,velocity and acceleration of elliptic crank-rocker.The calculation formulas of Transmission Angle γ and Travel Velocity Ratio Coefficient K are given.A GUI of analysis of elliptic crank-rocker is developed based on MATLAB according to the mathematical model.Kinematic curves of this mechanism could be achieved dynamically by input different dimension parameters at this GUI.Also the influence of various parameters to output angle θ was presented in this paper by changing one parameter once time.Synthesis and design the elliptic crank-rocker mechanism with intermittent motion according to conditions of intermittent of general linkage mechanism.
