| Located at the estuary,Shima Town is the junction of maritime and inland water transportation.It rose from overseas trading in the Ming Dynasty and is one of the earlier towns in the coastal area of Zhangzhou City.Its urban space had undergone a complete and traceable evolution.It had experienced the boom of cities and towns in Ming and Qing dynasties and was one of the towns to conduct urban construction during the Constitutional Protection Movement in southern Fujian.Till now,the layout of the old town is basically complete,making it into a typical example of the traditional towns in the coastal area of Zhangzhou.This research pays attention to the importance of historical awareness and cultural value of urban spaces.Commercial culture is an important historical feature of the coastal towns of Zhangzhou.It plays a key role in the evolution of towns and is the internal impetus for the continuous development and evolution of urban spatial forms.Focusing on the commercial culture may give us a better understanding of the profound logic of the development and evolution of urban spatial forms.This paper took Shima Town as the research target to sort out its evolution history and the urban spatial features in different periods,and study and analyze the relationship between commercial culture and the evolution of urban spaces.Then,the paper realized the decisive leading role of commercial culture in the historical evolution of urban spaces and the protection of Shima today shall focus on the protection and inheritance of the commercial culture.Contents of the paper are divided into three parts:Background research: This part outlines the formation and development background of coastal towns in Zhangzhou.Based on the study of the history,it explores the formation and development rules of coastal towns in Zhangzhou,analyzes the physiographic conditions and human geography conditions for the rise of Shima Town,and expounds the development of Shima to lay a good foundation for the elaboration of the core research contents of the paper.Core research: This part takes the change of the commercial culture as a clue,explores the evolution process of Shima and the urban spatial features in different periods,and establishes the importance of commercial culture in the process of urban development.On the basis of the previous studies,this part summarizes the mechanism of commercial culture on the spatial evolution of Shima,and systematically analyzes the changes of the overall layout of the town,the commercial space,the residential space and the religious space.During the analysis,it pays attention to the relationship between commercial culture and the formation and development of urban spaces,as well as the rules and logic of urban spatial evolution led by commercial culture.Contemporary use research: Based on the previous studies,this part proposes the urban space protection and development strategy for Shima with a focus on the protection and development of the commercial culture. |
