After nearly two decades of rapid development,the domestic industries of household air-conditioner have gradually moved to the mature track of development.How to develop high-value air-conditioning products in the household air-conditioning market under the circumstances of fierce competition and homogenization of products,has become an important problem that air-conditioning enterprises have received much attention in keeping their own market.The success of the design and development in new air-conditioning products is inseparable from successful construction in the early stage of product development.The primary problem in the early stage of product development depends on how to identify a product opportunity about air-conditioning,and deepen it into a specific product concept step by step.In order to get through the pre-development process of new air-conditioning products successfully,the iNPD,which means integrated new product development process,will be introduced.and the iNPD process will be improved considering the field of household air-conditioning.The new iNPD process is defined in the framework formed by air-conditioning,environment,and people,by adding insights into the market trend of air-conditioning based on SET social-economic-technical trends,and by qualitative interviews with user interviews,observations,etc.Based on the analysis of the quantitative questionnaire data,the original four stages are simplified into three stages: product opportunity identification,product definition and realization.Compared with the original iNPD process,it's more concise and suitable for the design of household air conditioners.By applying the improved iNPD process in the field of home air conditioning,using market and SET trend analysis,and integrating the opinions of people from the enterprise team including design,technology,market and other fields,it identifies an opportunity for air conditioning products in the current trend environment,which shows how to improve the sub-health condition of the urban youth in the air-conditioned environment.Through the analysis of the problem of air-conditioning product opportunities,combined with the qualitative and quantitative analysis of user research,the design principles of fresh,efficient and multi-scenario three air-supply modes are summarized from views of design,as well as needs of corresponding control and appearance experience.And the definition of design is derived from the specific goal of the value opportunity of the air-conditioning product.As a result,it's completed that the system design includes the household wall-mounted air conditioner,the supporting hand-held remote controller,and the mobile phone application service,which is different from the existing market.The wall-mounted air conditioner,remote control and mobile phone control interface provide an integrated product solution for improving the sub-health status of target users in the environment where air-conditioners work.Finally,the value of the product system solution is verified by the evaluation of function needs degree and satisfaction from users,as well as the evaluation of the company.The improved iNPD process constructs the early stage of product development provides successfully by completing product opportunities,offers an important reference for air-conditioning enterprises to find product opportunities in mature market,and also plays a important role in the design of other home appliances.At the same time,three air supply factors,which include the fresh,efficient and multi-scenario through the quantitative research,provide reference design principles for core air supply function innovation of air conditioning;the specific air conditioning product system design schemes also provide direction for iterative development of air conditioner in the field.
