Research On The Scale Of The Public Art Of Urban Space

Scale is the problem of seeing and being seen,it is an important representation of public art.From the special perspective of scale,it is enough to reflect the value of its carrier—the public art in different eras,and the spiritual concept of the audience.Focusing on the scale problem,through discussing its carrier—public art,and its research context—the urban space,it defines three supporting points of scale research: public art,the masses,and urban space.Based on this,the social functions of different historical stages of public art have different requirements for scales;people have various choices of public art scales in the times.The diverse spatial environment of cities has different restrictions on public art scales.The rich and multiple scales promote the public art to present a variety of aesthetic features,they increase the visual angle of viewing public art,and expand the spread of artistic charm;public art scales delight people's visual and aesthetic experience from static to dynamic,controlling the emotional expression of social groups;the public art scale plucks the spatial rhythm of the urban environment,and providing a different space projection for the spirit of the place.The scale is a catalyst for promoting the friendly blend between public art,citizens and the city.To supplement and suggest the scale grading standards,which are mainly based on the spatial volume of urban sculptures,makes the scale grading be expanded from spatial volume to time trajectory,which confirms the existence of more reasonable scales of public art.The multi-faceted study of the public art scale provides more theoretical support and methodological assistance for the development of the scale carrier—public art.
