With the development of the times, the progress of society and the change of educational concept, people’s understanding of the importance of teaching environment has been continuously improved.Especially the concept of "environmental education" has been put forward, which makes the construction and optimization of campus space environment increasingly arouse widespread concern. However,in the past, people have the following problems under the influence of traditional concepts in the construction of middle school campuses:(1)ignoring the actual needs and psychological feelings of users, only focusing on the shaping of campus space and the visual effects of the environment.(2)Ignore the differences of user groups, and generally classify the construction of primary and secondary schools into one group.Such a situation makes it difficult to create an educational environment that really meets the needs of people. The traditional design of campus space environment in middle schools has exposed more and more problems and limitations.Based on POE theory, the adaptability of middle school campus space environment is optimized from the point of fully respecting the user’s principal value. It can overcome the above problems, avoid blindness in the decision-making of campus development, and make the design adapt to the new needs and development reasonably and efficiently. This paper first clarifies the purpose, significance and research methods of the subject, and summarizes the research status at home and abroad.Taking middle schools in Western Inner Mongolia as the overall research scope, and taking the environmental system of "campus space environment" as the specific research object.Through on-the-spot investigation, drawing analysis and free interviews, this paper conducts in-depth research on the middle school campus in Western Inner Mongolia,to understand the current situation of the construction and use of the middle school campus,to explore the behavioral characteristics and psychological needs of users, and to determine the selection of research samples, the selection of evaluation subjects and the exploration of relevant evaluation factors. This paper focuses on the post-use evaluation of the campus space environment of middle schools in Western Inner Mongolia by means of POE theory, which covers six aspects: the overall environment of the campus, the building environment of the campus, the greening and landscape, the public activity environment, the organization of the campus traffic, facilities and management. From the user’s point of view, the advantages and disadvantages of current campus construction are found, and the explicit and implicit needs of users are deeply excavated.Through the scientific statistical analysis of the user’s environmental assessment data information, the key points of the construction of the spatial environment of secondary school campuses are defined, the relevant evaluation models are established, and the post-use evaluation system of secondary school campuses is improved.Based on the evaluation results and related theories, this paper studies the adaptability of the middle school campus space environment, puts forward the purpose of the middle school campus space environment adaptability, and further puts forward the principles and suggestions of the middle school campus space environment adaptability design based on the timely, appropriate and suitable human as the breakthrough point, combining with the construction and use status of the middle school campus in Western Inner Mongolia. In order to optimize the allocation of secondary education resources, improve its life cycle and comprehensive benefits,so that it can not only meet the requirements of quality education, but also take into account the long-term development of the school, and become an organic part of the educational place.
