The braking property of the car determines whether the car can stop in a short distance during driving, which is an important performance of the car driving safety, and is related to the life safety of the occupant. As the quantity of possession continues to increase, the number of traffic accidents caused by the failure of the brake system of the car increases. Therefore, how to improve the braking performance of the car and improve the reliability of the car brake system is particularly important.Reliability study of the brake system with complex structure and many components can be transformed into the reliability of key components which make up the brake system.Selective focus on quality improvement on key components with high failure rate, high risk and difficult maintenance, can enable manufacturers to maximize the safety of the vehicle with less economic input. This paper briefly analyzes the structure of the pneumatic brake system of a dump truck in Foton Ruiwo.Based on the reliability theory research, the failure mode impact analysis(FMEA)and fault tree analysis(FTA)are applied to the pneumatic brake system.According to the after-sales maintenance data processing, the main fault components of the brake system are determined, and the distribution type of the fault data of the main fault component is determined by the method of goodness of fit test, and the corresponding function is determined by using MATLAB,and the obtained function is obtained. The fault function determines the failure rate and reliability of the main fault components of the brake system under different driving distances, and finally obtains the reliability and corresponding curve of the brake system under different driving ranges.Using the concept of risk priority number(RPN),the severity(ESR),degree of occurrence(OPR),and detection degree(DDR)of parts are graded separately, and the risk priority of each component is finally obtained.Further use the probability importance and the risk priority number to calculate the criticality of each major fault component. Finally, the key components are sorted and the corresponding improved design scheme is proposed.
