In recent years, with the development of shipping, the number and tonnage of ships arriving at Xiamen Port have increased greatly, especially the number of super large ships arriving at Xiamen Port has increased year by year. With the continuous growth of ship traffic volume in Xiamen Port, traffic delays frequently occur in various waterways, especially the occasional traffic congestion caused by emergencies(entry and exit of super-large ships, poor visibility navigation, ship accidents,etc.).How to quantify the space-time range of traffic congestion under channel emergencies and quantitatively calculate the channel traffic congestion caused by traffic congestion? The reduction of efficiency has become an urgent problem to be solved in the process of sustainable development of Xiamen Port waterway traffic. In order to study the impact of congestion caused by emergencies on navigation efficiency of Xiamen Port, this paper, based on traffic wave theory and combined with the characteristics of ship traffic flow in port channel, deeply analyzed the process of gathering and dispersing ships in channel when emergencies occurred, and established a calculation model of navigation efficiency of Xiamen Port based on traffic wave theory. The maximum queue length and blocking time of ships in the channel can be calculated quantitatively by the established model, and the traffic flow of affected ships can be calculated quantitatively according to the blocking time,so as to calculate the navigation efficiency quantitatively.Based on the theory of traffic waves and taking the entry and exit of super-large ships with one-way traffic and poor visibility as an example, this paper quantitatively calculates the maximum queuing length, maximum queuing time and the number of ships affected by traffic congestion by using the established spatio-temporal impact model, and puts forward relevant measures to improve the navigation efficiency of the channel according to the generation principle of traffic waves. The relevant measures taken by the Customs and Maritime Departments in the case of channel congestion provide a certain theoretical basis for reference.
