China has a long coastline and abundant tidal resources. The coastal cities have carried out large-scale land reclamation in order to break the terrible situation of land resources. The beach silt has the characteristics of high water content, low strength and low permeability coefficient, and it needs to be re-reinforced before construction. The electroosmosis method has the advantages of fast consolidation speed and less occurrence of destabilization so is often used for the reinforcement of beach silt.To overcome the terms of electroosmosis effect and energy consumption, this study investigates siliconization combined with electroosmosis and use a self-made model box to study the electroosmotic consolidation in laboratory.Firstly, three experiments of the single electroosmosis, grouting in anode-cathode and grouting in the anode-middle to be compared under an isoelectric electric potential gradient.By analyzing the current, drainage volume, drainage rate, and coefficient of energy consumption during the electroosmosis process,as well as moisture content, electrical conductivity, and shear strength after the tests to compare the difference between single electroosmosis and siliconization combined with electroosmosis and determine the optimal grouting method of siliconization combined with electroosmosis.the experiment results demonstrated that the effect of siliconization combined with electroosmosis is better than that of single electroosmosis.Calcium chloride and sodium silicate can improve the conductivity of soil, increase the current intensity, speed up the drainage rate, and the soil substance and the produced material were helpful to increase the shear strength.Different grouting positions has different test reinforcement effects and the effect of anode-middle grouting reinforcement is better than anode-cathode grouting.Secondly, the concentration of the grouting can change the number of movable ions in the soil, increasing the current and strengthening the reinforcement of the soil.It can be summarized by comparing silicification combined with electroosmosis experiments of different concentrating in anode-middle grouting that different grouting concentrations increase the reinforcement effect of electroosmosis and the optimal concentration can effectively improve the conductivity of the soil and increase the current. When the optimum concentration(0.5mol/L)was selected, both the drainage and the shear strength after test reached the maximum value, and the average energy consumption coefficient was the smallest. Finally, the effects of grouting quantity on the electroosmosis reinforcement were compared by five experiments. In order to eliminate the influence of grouting quantity, the net drainage volume was introduced and the microstructure of the soil was observed by scanning electron microscopy(SEM)with a magnification of 2000 after the tests. The results showed that the electroosmotic treatment was affected by the quantity of grouting, and it was in a nonlinear way.The product of chemical reaction between calcium chloride and sodium silicate fills the pores between the soils, alleviates the generation and extension of cracks, and the soil settlement is more uniform. The silicic acid gel formed by the reaction of calcium chloride and sodium silicate was dehydrated and polycondensed, which complicated the soil structure and stabilized the soil skeleton, enhanced the shear strength and improved the mechanical properties of the soil.
