The present study was designed to investigate the impact that transportation has on the domestic trade in Rwanda. The output from multiple regression proves that the level of relationship between transportation and domestic trade in Rwanda is significant. From the results,it can be concluded that infrastructure is a significant determinant of transportation, which significantly affect the domestic trade in Rwanda in terms of transport cost. The simple mediation was used to calculate the direct and indirect effect of the infrastructure on the wholesales by using model 4 in the process macro of Hayes version 3.The results confirm the mediation hypothesis where the infrastructure was not at the moment a significant predictor of wholesale after directing transport cost as mediator. Therefore,it is recommended to Rwanda government to continuously improve the quality of roads which is the main transport mode in order to reduce transport time and cost. Also, new transport modes like railways which are more cheap and efficient must be thought about to improve the domestic trade.
