Fragments Of Writing:Possibilities Of Amateur "Small House"

Prof.Wangshu elaborated the concept of Amateur Architecture in‘Pioneer Today'Volume 8,2000.“Here,we don't say ‘building',just say ‘house'.A house is an amateur architecture.”Based on the concept of amateur small house put forward by Prof.Wang,this paper takes those trivial,fragmented small houses scattered in every corner of the urban villages and the rural as the research object.The paper realizes the fact that the ideological background and the core clue of the PhD thesis Fictionalizing City by Prof.Wang come from Roland Barthes and Claude Levi-Strauss.Based on the definition in that thesis,this kind of small houses weave into a structural entirety.Besides,those spontaneously built small houses not only carry people's daily life,but also make me see the diversity and difference of people's habits,beliefs and customs,as well as the value of all these to daily life.The “amateur small house”is a kind of design padegogy.It parallels with the voluntary construction in Chinese urban village.The paper attempts to establish on the Structuralism theory of Roland Barthes and Claude Levi-Strauss,focusing on the subject of amateur small house and Prof.Wang's architecture.Also,according to the discussion between fragmented writing and spontaneously built small houses,as well as the parallel reading between those small houses and Prof.Wang's architecture,the paper tries to discuss the possibility of a fragmented design and construction.
