Research On The Design Of Urban Riverside Public Space Based On The Translation Of Canal Culture

Since the "Grand Canal" was officially listed on the World Heritage List,many experts and scholars have focused their research perspectives on relevant aspects of canal research.The canal carries various historical imprints of urban development and human activities.The rich canal culture formed in the historical process deeply affects the development of all aspects of surrounding cities and regions,and has very important research value.The riverside public space influenced by canal culture in the city is not only an important area where the river ecological environment is connected with human daily activities,but also carries more cultural characteristics.Translating canal culture into riverside public space design language.shaping pleasant riverside public space and effectively inheriting canal cultural spirit have gradually become an important part of urban construction,which is also the focus of this paper.This paper first summarizes the background of the project,the research progress at home and abroad,and then puts forward the theoretical and practical significance of the translation of canal culture into riverside public space,and defines the research content,method and framework.Then.this paper makes a basic research on the conceptual theory of canal culture and urban riverside public space,including the process of formation and evolution,connotation,type,constituent elements and functions.By looking for the correlation between canal culture and riverside public space,and then through comprehensive analysis,thinking and condensation,the author summarizes the translation methods of canal culture into riverside public space,including direct reproduction,transformation and reconstruction,and metaphor implication.Based on the previous theoretical research,this paper further draws on the actual cases of the application of foreign canal waterfront and domestic canal culture in riverside public space,discusses and seeks for reasonable and effective planning and design ideas,and summarizes the planning and design principles,ideas and strategies of urban riverside public space from the perspective of canal culture translation.Finally,this paper takes the planning and design project of Empress Dowager Xiao River Park in Beijing as an example to explore,so as to provide reference for other similar riverside public space design projects.
